Creepy Crawly Roadshow

Our animals...

The animals we use are specially selected to be safe, calm and handleable species. John has worked with exotic creatures for over 40 years and is an expert in his field. His degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, plus extensive working career in the pet shop, animal rescue and teaching industry, has enabled John to understand and put into practice the highest possible standards of welfare and care for his animals. He only uses animals that are fit for purpose on the day. Each animal undergoes a thorough health and behaviour check before each show, and should they not be fit in any way, they are not used, and are given the necessary care. John has even undergone scientific studies at Myerscough College Preston into the stress caused by gentle handling during a show. He found that in the species he selects, stress levels do not rise, and in some species, they are even lowered! He feels that the use of these species in his shows is a great form of enrichment for the animals and can greatly improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

John also has risk assessments for the handling of all his creatures. They are available on request.

Species commonly used include Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, Giant Train Millipedes, various stick insect species, Chilean Rose Spiders, Royal Pythons, Corn Snakes, Giant African Land Snails, Leopard Geckos and many more. Please note that not all the species mentioned above will be present at all shows. John carefully selects the species he feels are appropriate to use on the day.
